Edison, NJ - Manhattan College outdoor track and field has earned 39 All-Academic selections from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The women's track and field team snagged 21 honors, while the men's team grabbed 18.Â
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. A total of 162 student-athletes comprise the 2018 MAAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team, while 121 make up the Men's All-Academic Team. The Manhattan women's and men's teams both placed fourth in the league in total student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team.
Manhattan track and field heads to Lawrenceville, NJ this weekend for the 2018 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Competition will begin Saturday with the men's hammer throw and several other field events. Saturday's running finals include the men's and women's 3,000-meter steeplechase and 10,000-meter runs. Running finals will continue Sunday.Â
Last year, the Jaspers' men's and women's programs each placed third overall at the MAAC Championships. Then freshman
Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia / William Ross) was named field Rookie of the Meet after earning bronze in the men's long jump and fourth in the men's high jump.Â
