Miami, FL - FIU scored eight unanswered runs en route to posting an 8-4 win over Manhattan in the series finale between the teams at the FIU Field.

The Golden Panthers with the series while improving to 9-10 as the Jaspers fall to 3-9.

Manhattan's offense showed no signs of a letdown following last night's thrilling win, scoring the first two runs of the game in the top of the first.  Sophomore Adam Genners (Jacksonville, FL / Stanton College Prep) delivered a one-out single down the left field line before moving to second when senior Christian Santisteban (Miami, FL / Gulliver Prep) reached via an error. Freshman Fabian Pena (Miami, FL / Calusa Prep) loaded them up with a sharp single through the left side. Sophomore Ryan Gronlier opened the scoring with a RBI single off the wall that plated Genners before Santisteban crossed the plate on Michael Pfenninger's (Flemington, NJ / Hunterdon Central) RBI ground out.

FIU then rallied with four runs in the third inning before putting up another four-spot in the bottom of the sixth in taking an 8-2 lead.

The Jasper offense would get two of those runs back in the top of the eighth as Santisteban drew his second walk of the day before Pena greeted reliever Chris Coipel with his second home run on as many Sundays, a two-run shot that drew the visitors to within 8-4.

Unfortunately, that would be as close as Manhattan would get the rest of the way as the Golden Panther bullpen settled down after yielding Pena's two-run blast.

Pena was one of three Jaspers to notch multiple-hits, finishing up 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Gronlier was 2-for-3 with a walk and RBi while Genners also had a pair of hits and a run.

FIU's top three hitters went 5-for-13 with six RBI and three runs while Cody Crouse was the beneficiary, earning the win with 6.2 innings of two-run ball.

Freshman RHP Ryan Takacs (Jackson, NJ / Jackson Memorial) was saddled with the loss, striking out two over 5.1 innings.

Manhattan will next be in action on Wednesday, March 16 against Hartford at Dutchess Stadium with first pitch slated for 12:00 pm.
