Baseball Downed by Rider in Rescheduled Doubleheader on Sunday

TEANECK, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers baseball team (11-21, 6-11 MAAC) fell to the Broncs of Rider University (21-9, 12-5 MAAC) by a score of 5-0 and 7-4

GAME ONE: (Manhattan – 0 | Rider – 5)

  • The Jaspers started with an early three-run deficit in the top of the first, highlighted by a Rider two-run single.
  • Following the three runs crossing the plate, catcher Andreaus Lewis threw out the runner, attempting to steal second base to end any further threat effectively.
  • In the top half of the third inning, the Broncs led off the inning with a double down the left-field line before having a runner at the hot corner. Pitcher Joseph Duffield then forced a ground-out to strand a pair of runners in scoring position.
  • In the eighth inning's home half, Trevor Hansen and Aidan Katzman slapped singles toward the Broncs' shortstop before ending the side.

GAME TWO: (Manhattan – 4 | Rider – 7)

  • After surrendering the first run of the game in the first inning, the Jaspers found its rhythm in the home half of the second, with a three-run blast from Trevor Hansen to put the Green and White ahead of the Broncs early.
  • Following the three-run home run from Rider, Aidan Taclas tied the game at four with a leadoff home run down the right-field line.
