TEANECK, NJ – The Manhattan Jaspers baseball team (11-21, 6-11 MAAC) fell to the Broncs of Rider University (21-9, 12-5 MAAC) by a score of 5-0 and 7-4
GAME ONE: (Manhattan – 0 | Rider – 5)
- The Jaspers started with an early three-run deficit in the top of the first, highlighted by a Rider two-run single.
- Following the three runs crossing the plate, catcher Andreaus Lewis threw out the runner, attempting to steal second base to end any further threat effectively.
- In the top half of the third inning, the Broncs led off the inning with a double down the left-field line before having a runner at the hot corner. Pitcher Joseph Duffield then forced a ground-out to strand a pair of runners in scoring position.
- In the eighth inning's home half, Trevor Hansen and Aidan Katzman slapped singles toward the Broncs' shortstop before ending the side.
GAME TWO: (Manhattan – 4 | Rider – 7)
- After surrendering the first run of the game in the first inning, the Jaspers found its rhythm in the home half of the second, with a three-run blast from Trevor Hansen to put the Green and White ahead of the Broncs early.
- Following the three-run home run from Rider, Aidan Taclas tied the game at four with a leadoff home run down the right-field line.
STATS AND NOTES
- Third baseman Trevor Hansen put together two hits on the afternoon and three RBIs in the three-run home run during the backend of the doubleheader.
- For the Skillman, NJ product, the three-run blast was his fifth of the season.
- Right fielder Aidan Taclas registered two hits on his individual ledger with a solo jack in the second game of two.
- Braedon Romero was summoned from the bullpen in the second game, and logged four innings of work, surrendering three hits, three earned runs, and fanned three with 51 total pitches.
- Chris Fidanza added two innings of work and struck out four to close out the second game with 36 total pitches thrown.
- Joseph Duffield struck out a game-high four Broncs in 103 pitches in game one.
- Ryan McLaughlin added two strikeouts in the final inning.
