Davidson, NC (February 26, 2005)- Manhattan scored three times in the top of the ninth to defeat Davidson, 7-5, in nine innings in the first game of a double header this afternoon at Davidson. The Wildcats posted a 17-1 win in the nightcap.
Trailing 5-4 entering the ninth, the Jaspers tallied three runs to post the comeback win. Chris Cody went the first six innings for Manhattan, striking out eight, and Kyle Wirtz went the last three for the win, tallying one strikeout.
Gary Diaz went 1-4 with three RBI, and Nunzio Franzese went 2-4 with an RBI to pace Manhattan.
In the nightcap, Shane Bolin went 2-2 and Matt Rizzotti drove in the Jaspers' lone run with an RBI single through the right side in the top of the seventh, scoring Phil Kuhner. Davidson scored 15 runs over the first four innings to blow the game open. Brian Fulcher hurled one scoreless inning for Manhattan.
Manhattan and Davidson conclude the three game series tomorrow, with one game starting at 1:00 p.m.
