POMONA, N.Y. – Manhattan baseball picked up a 10-6 win on Sunday afternoon against Marist to pick up the series win.
It is the first series win for Manhattan against Marist in 10 years.
Manhattan (13-25, 6-6 MAAC) scored five in the second and two more in the third to erase an early 2-0 Marist (9-29, 4-8) lead.
Pete Durocher broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom second inning when the left fielder blasted a three-run homer to left.
Frankie Marinelli and
Logan Pfannenbecker scored. Earlier, Marinelli tied the game at two with a single to left.
An inning later, after a Marinelli RBI double, Durocher brought in two more runs to make it 8-2 Manhattan with a single through the left side.
The Red Foxes did score the game's next four runs to bring themselves within two. Dylan Hoy drove in one with an RBI double and later came around to score in the fourth. Marist added two more in the sixth.
Insurance runs for the Jaspers came off the bats of
Jacob Radziewicz and
Trevor Santos in the home half of the eighth. Both had RBI singles to right field to extend the lead.
Durocher finished the 2-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Marinelli went 2-6 with two runs scored and two more RBI.
Ryan Ash scored twice and had two hits.
Alfredo Delgado, Radziewicz, and Santos also had two hits.
Durocher, Marinelli, and Radziewicz extended their hitting streaks to six games.
Connor O'Neill got the start for the Jaspers and picked up the win after going five innings and allowing three earned runs. Garret Grabinski recorded the final seven outs to pick up his fourth save of the year.
Manhattan is back in action on Wednesday night when Hofstra visits Clover Stadium for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
