RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers continue their stay on the road, taking on Mercer and Kennesaw State this week.
Manhattan (3-4) will go to Georgia to face off against Mercer (3-1) first. The Bears have won their past two games, the most recent against George Washington this past Tuesday. Sunday will be the first time the Jaspers and the Bears ever faced each other.
After Mercer, the Jaspers will make their way over to Kennesaw state (1-4) to take on the Owls on Wednesday. Coming into the matchup with the Jaspers, the Owls have lost the past three games, the most recent against Radford. Before going up against Manhattan, Kennesaw State is scheduled to play Wofford on Saturday. This will also be the first time the Jaspers and the Owls meet.
In their most recent match, the Jaspers battled Merrimack (1-6) this past Tuesday in North Andover, Mass. The Jaspers suffered a 12-11 loss. The first quarter of the game went scoreless, with Merrimack scoring the first goal in the second. After trailing by as many as five, the Jaspers fired up their offense in the game's later stages, scoring six of their 11 goals in the final minutes of the third and fourth quarters. The Jaspers cut the five-goal Warrior lead down to one but ran out of time.
Key players of this comeback were Ava Fernandes and Julia Fernandes, both dropping hat-tricks. Julianna Iovine scored a pair of goals and assists. As for defense, Jessica Hise and Ashley Gambardella denied six and five shots, respectively.
The game against Mercer this Sunday will take place in Macon, Ga. at 11 a.m. The Jaspers will then travel to Kennesaw State to face the Owls in Kennesaw, Ga. at 12 p.m.
