POMONA, N.Y. – Manhattan scored five in the fourth and got five innings of one-run relief from Mason Vaughn in a 9-2 win over Stony Brook on Tuesday.
After scoring in the second and third, Manhattan (13-12) hung five on the board in the fourth. After the ball hit the first-base bag,
Harrison Treble double down the right-field line to bring in two runs.
Two batters later,
Jack Lynch singled to right to bring home Treble and
David Bermudez.
Pete Durocher drove in the final run in the inning with a sacrifice fly to right.
Bermudez, who was named MAAC Player of the Week earlier on Tuesday, brought in Manhattan's final two runs in the seventh with a single to left field.
Vaughn came out of the Jasper bullpen to start the fifth inning. The senior scattered two hits and allowed only one earned run to earn his first win of the season. Vaughn retired Stony Brook (12-15) in order in the fifth, sixth, and ninth innings.
Treble finished 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Bermudez and Lynch had two RBI.
Manhattan faces Siena this weekend in a three-game weekend series. The Saint & Jaspers will play three games at Pace University this weekend starting Friday at 5:30 p.m.
