HAMDEN, Conn. — Manhattan (17-21, 7-9 MAAC) dropped the second game of a three-game series with Quinnipiac (13-24, 6-8 MAAC) by a final score of 11-1. The Bobcats produced 15 hits on their way while holding the Jaspers to only five base knocks on the afternoon.
Quinnipiac jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning with the help of two doubles and a single. That lead would grow to 6-0 in the third inning on the strength of three more hits, including an RBI single from Michael Cohn.
Kohn hit a three-run home run over the right-field fence in his third at-bat, making the score 9-0. Kohn finished 3-of-4 with five RBIs to help fuel the Bobcats' offense.
Manhattan got a run back in the sixth inning on an RBI single from
Pete Durocher before Ian Ostberg homered to right field in the seventh inning to retaliate for the Bobcats. The final blow for Quinnipiac came in the eighth inning off the bat of Jared Zimbardo on a homer to left field.
Kevin Seitter registered the win for Quinnipiac, pitching seven innings while giving up one unearned run.
Harrison Treble scored the lone for the Jaspers and finished with two hits.
Manhattan will look to salvage the last game of the series with the first pitch scheduled for tomorrow at 1 p.m.
