POMONA, N.Y. – A 6-1 win for Manhattan gave the Jaspers a series win over Canisius on Sunday at Clover Stadium.
Pete Durocher was one of six Jaspers to drive in runs on Sunday. Durocher went 2-for-4 with two runs scored including a solo homer in the seventh that capped the scoring for the Jaspers.
First baseman
Frankie Marinelli also scored twice for Manhattan (10-11, 2-1 MAAC). The sophomore scored on a sacrifice fly from
Jack Lynch in the fifth and a
Harrison Treble single in the sixth that capped the three-run frame for the Jaspers.
Manhattan took a 1-0 lead when Durocher scored on a fielder's choice in the second. Canisius (9-11, 1-2) tied it back up in the top of the third when Jeff DeStefano doubled down the left-field line.
Canisius' David Yankowski surrendered the three runs in the sixth as the Jaspers sent nine hitters to the plate and was saddled with the loss.
Kyle Lesler picked up his first win of the season after allowing one run over five innings and striking out six Golden Griffins.
Up next for the Jaspers is a non-conference matchup with Stony Brook on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Clover Stadium.
