RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers face off against Saint Peter's after competing at the ECAC Winter Championships last week.
After competing at the ECAC Championships last week, the Jaspers will compete again this Saturday against Saint Peter's. The men placed eighth and the women in 12th at the ECAC Championships.
For the men,
Joe Brennan placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke for individual races with a final time of 55.97, only .77 seconds behind second. Brennan also broke the school record in the 50- and 100-yard breaststroke with times of 25.58 and 55.82
.
The men placed 10th in the 400-yard medley relay. The team was made up of
Andrew Lebak, Brennan,
Jack Martin, and
Jonathan Carsen. They had a final time of 3:31.57, scoring the Jaspers 33 points. Advancing to the finals of the 200-yard backstroke were
Abelardo Cartagena and Lebak, who placed 18th and 20th in the group C final with times of 1:58.09 and 1:58.31, combining for 12 points.
For the women,
Kyla Guilfoil and
Abbey Mink both broke school records. Guilfoil broke her own school record for the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.84. Mink broke the school's 50-yard freestyle record with a time of 24.70. She also broke her own 50-yard butterfly record with a 26.35 on the first split of the 100-fly. Mink went onto break the school's record for the 100-yard butterfly (57.54).
The meet will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10, in Jersey City, N.J., at 10 a.m.
