RIVERDALE, N.Y. — The Jaspers and Gaels went head to head in the pool on Saturday afternoon at the Jeffrey H. Loria Family Aquatic. The Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving programs honored its seniors with a ceremony prior to the start of the races.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • On a day where he and his classmates were honored, senior Joe Brennan would not be denied 1st place in the Men's 100 Yard Breaststroke. Brennan touched the wall at 58 seconds, which was over a second faster than Iona's Nick Patino who finished in 2nd.

  • Junior Jaila Williamson and sophomore Leticia Fontes finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke. Williamson was clocked at 1:10.78, and Fontes was right behind her at 1:12.67.

  • Freshman Tristan Ehrhardt was the Jaspers' top performer in the Men's 200 Yard Freestyle, finishing 2nd with a time of 1:49.85 (Season Best).

  • Williamson continued to leave her mark for the Jaspers by taking home 3rd place (25.65 second) in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle.

  • In the Men's 100 Yard Butterfly, sophomore Gavin Hardy posted the third-best time at 53.17, and was awarded first place due to the top two Iona swimmers holding 'exhibition' status.

  • In the Men's 100 Yard IM, Brennan set a new personal best of 55.62 seconds, which was good for 1st place in the event due to exhibition entries on Iona.
