ATAX Senior Spotlight: Haugh And Scheuer

Riverdale, NY - With the cancellation of spring sports for the 2020 campaign, Manhattan Athletics has changed its ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week segment to an ATAX Senior Spotlight. Moving forward, seniors from all of Manhattan's spring sports will be featured three times a week.

This week ends with the spotlight focused on two track and field javelin throwers: Megan Haugh (Metuchen, NJ / Metuchen) and Ian Scheuer (Lincroft, NJ / Middletown South).

Unable to compete this year due to the cancellation of the outdoor season, Haugh set a PR in the javelin at the 2019 MAAC Outdoor Championships, taking sixth place overall with a throw of 37.60 meters. She also took home eighth at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships last year, hitting 36.75 meters.

"Megan has been an excellent example of the term 'student-athlete," said Assistant Coach Patrick McGrath. "Her work ethic on the field and in the classroom have been exemplary."

Scheuer joined the track and field program from Manhattan's baseball team. Last year, he finished eighth overall in the javelin throw at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships, recording a distance of 46.18 meters, and set a PR in the event at the MAAC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 47.30 meters, good for 13th place.

"It's been an honor to work with Ian," said McGrath. "His talent and dedication to the program have been tremendous."
