Staten Island, NY -
In less than a week, junior Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) has broken her second Manhattan College indoor track record, winning the 5,000-meter race during the 2018 Metropolitan Indoor Championships at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, February 2 on Staten Island.

Fajardo's time of 16:42.00 was more than 40 seconds faster than the race's second-place finisher and more than 20 seconds faster than the previous school record of 17:06.18 set by Cheryl Simoni at the 1988 ECAC Indoor Championships. The time is also good for best in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). On January 27, Fajardo beat Simoni's school-record time in the 3,000-meter race at Boston University's Terrier Classic.

On the men's side, Manhattan took second-place overall out of 15 teams competing in the two-day Mets Championships. Freshman Tim Youtkus (Basking Ridge, NJ / Ridge) took first in the seven-event heptathlon with 4,249 points. Sophomore Brenton Foster (Townsville, Australia / William Ross), who broke the school record in the high jump in December of last year, won the event at the Mets, posting a height of 2.09 meters.

Manhattan swept the men's shot put, with freshman Anu Awonusi (Dublin, Ireland / Kilkenny College) throwing a winning distance of 16.80 meters, a personal best and the second-longest shot put distance in the MAAC. Junior Ryan Addlesberger (Cinnaminson, NJ / Cinnaminson), senior Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia / Gimazjia Jesenice), and junior Eric Waugh (Wheatley Heights, NY / Half Hollow Hills West) took home the next three spots on the leader board.  Senior Love Litzell (Ostersund, Sweden / Wargentinskolan) won the men's weight throw with a distance of 17.74 meters.

Manhattan also saw success in field events on the women's side, with freshman Fiona Ruettimann (St. Gallan, Switzerland / Kantosschule Heerbrugg) placing second in the pentathlon at 3,187 points. She also won second in the high jump with 1.6 meters. For the Mets overall, the women's indoor team placed fifth out of 15 competing teams.
