Buffalo, NY - The Manhattan men's swimming & diving team finished eighth at the 2016 MAAC Championships with 205.5 points following the fourth and final day of competition at the Flickinger Center.
In the 200-back, senior co-captain Lance Neuendorf (Blauvelt, N.Y. / Tappan Zee) won the 'B' final en route to finishing ninth in 1:51.43.
In the 3-meter diving portion of the meet, junior Dylan Cooney (Port Jervis, N.Y. / Minisink Valley) placed 14th with a score of 126.90.
Scoring for the Jaspers in the 200 fly was junior co-captain Rich Llewellyn (East Islip, N.Y. / East Islip), who placed 11th in 1:54.82. In the 1650-free, freshman Evan Battisti (East Meadow, N.Y. / East Meadow) was 13th (16:32.93) with sophomore Brandon Shields (Stony Point, N.Y. / George Mason) right behind in 14th (16:33.12) as both swimmers eclipsed PJ Sweeney's previous school-record time of 16:39.49.
In the 100-free, sophomore Neil Perry (Elkridge, Md. / Loyola Blakefield) was the top Manhattan finisher, taking 28th in 48.35.
Concluding the meet for the Jaspers was the 400-free relay team of Perry, Shields, senior Thomas Dougherty (Fresh Meadow, N.Y. / Archbishop Molloy) and senior Dallan Treanor (Monroe, N.Y. / Monroe-Woodbury) that placed seventh in 3:09.77 while holding off a late-charging Fairfield squad.
