NEW YORK – Manhattan College secured second place in the men's collegiate 4x400 meter relay at the 108th Millrose Games on Saturday afternoon at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center. The quartet of Sheldon Derenoncourt (Patchogue, N.Y.), Justin Alleyne (New Rochelle, N.Y.), Will Stallings (Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.) and Greg Perrier (Dix Hills, N.Y.) posted a time of 3:16.27.
The Jaspers also sent a handful of competitors, mainly distance runners, to the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational. Anthony Colasurdo (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) grabbed second place in the 1000 meters with a 2:33.09 clocking, while Steven Forte's (Bellmore, N.Y.) time of 8:59.39 in the 3000 meters was good enough for third. Also securing third place in his event was Nesta Littlejohn (Albany, N.Y.), who finished the 200 meters in 23.37 seconds.
Nicole Mainente (Shirley, N.Y.) paced the women's squad with a second-place showing in the 500 meters (1:20.08). Alexa Roda (Staten Island, N.Y.) took third in the mile (5:15.67), while Kelly Gorman (South Amboy, N.J.) and Janie Turek (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) went 4-5 in the 1000 meters. Gorman's time was 3:00.81 and Turek finished in 3:01.13.
Saturday's meets marked Manhattan's final competition before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. The Jaspers are looking to regain the conference title after taking second (men) and third (women) last year. Action gets underway at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center next Saturday at 4 p.m.
