EAST MEADOW, NY - After some strong performances on the opening night of competition, the Manhattan men's and women's swimming and diving teams sit in second and fifth places, respectively, heading into Saturday's session.
Freshman Abie DeLisio (Woodstock, NY / Kingston) recorded the best outing of the meet, as she touched in at 18:19.98 in the 1650 freestyle to set a school record in the event. During the race, she also broke the school mark in the 1000 freestyle, with an 11:05.19.
The 200 medley relay team consisting of juniors Sara Buckley (East Setauket, NY / Ward Melville) and Patricia Colton (Washingtonville, NY / Washingtonville), sophomore Alexandra Hutzler (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) and freshman Megan Pagano (LaGrangeville, NY / Arlington) placed fifth in the race, knocking 2.90 seconds off its previous season best time.
The men's 200 medley relay team shaved 2.40 seconds off of its previous top mark this season en route to a third place finish. The group included seniors Lance Neuendorf (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) and Dallan Treanor (Monroe, NY / Monroe-Woodbury), sophomore Neil Perry (Elkridge, MD / Loyola Blakefield) and freshman Matthew Silvestri (Howell, NJ / Howell).
Junior Dylan Cooney (Port Jervis, NY / Minisink Valley) and sophomore Dan Dixon (Brookfield, CT / Brookfield) placed second and third, respectively, with Cooney scoring 142 points and Dixon finishing with 140.
The second day of competition begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
