NEW YORK – On Saturday night at the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center, the Manhattan College indoor track & field team took part in the NYU Saturday Night Shootout. It was a strong meet for the Jaspers, as three different athletes posted qualifying marks for the ECAC/IC4A Championships. Greg Perrier (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Trevell Moxey (Lansdale, Pa.) qualified for the IC4A Championships, while Bianca Marten (Waiblingen, Germany) achieved the ECAC standard in the long jump.
Perrier won the men's 1000 meters, posting a time of 2:28.25. Moxey, meanwhile, took first in the men's triple jump. His best effort was 14.74 meters (48 feet, 4½ inches). Marten finished first in the women's long jump, leaping 5.82 m (19'1¼). She also placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 11.51 m (37'9¼).
Other highlights of the meet included Hayden Clarke (Townsville, Australia) grabbing second place in the men's long jump (6.94 m, 22'9¼), Justin Farrenkopf (Ellenville, N.Y.) clearing 4.60 m (15'1) in the men's pole vault, which was good for second place, and Bobby Gebhard (Saddle River, N.J.) taking third in the men's triple jump (14.34 m, 47'0¾). In addition, Anthony Colasurdo (Lanoka Harbor, N.J.) placed third in the mile (4:19.21).
The Jasper women also had several solid performances on the track. Milena Stoicev (Nis, Serbia) finished second in the 1000 (3:01.05) and Janie Turek (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) took third in the 800 meters (2:20.71). Alexandra Cappello (Scarsdale, N.Y.) added a fifth-place showing in the mile (5:14.41). In the women's pole vault, meanwhile, Marisa Robbins (Goshen, N.Y.) secured sixth place by clearing 3.30 m (10'10).
Manhattan returns to the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Friday for the NYU Team Challenge. Competition gets underway at 12 p.m.
