WEST POINT, N.Y. - A small contingent of athletes, mainly sprinters, from the Manhattan College indoor track & field team began the 2013 portion of the indoor season at the Crowell Open from Army's Gillis Field House on Saturday. Ashley Bowman (Elmont, N.Y.) had a pair of solid performances, winning the 200 meters and finishing third in the 60.
In the women's 200, Bowman and Cara Rostant (Valley Stream, N.Y.) placed first and third. Bowman's time was 25.40 seconds, while Rostant recorded a 25.79-second clocking. Bowman then grabbed third place in the 60 meters, posting a time of 7.93 seconds.
On the men's side, Abdias Myrtil (Wheatley Heights, N.Y.) was fourth in the 60 (7.05) and ninth in the 200 (23.14). Tyrek Barney (Hempstead, N.Y.) took ninth place in the 400 meters (51.56), and Jacob Adams (Yonkers, N.Y.) also earned a ninth-place finish in the 3000 meters (8:58.22).
The Jaspers return to action at the NYC Gotham Cup from the New Balance Armory Track & Field Center on Friday. Competition gets underway at 12:30 p.m.
