WOMEN'S LACROSSE FALLS TO COLUMBIA, 12-4

New York, NY (March 10, 2005)- The Lady Jaspers fell to the Columbia Lions 12-4 today at the Lawrence A Wien Stadium. Manhattan drops to a 0-2 overall record while Columbia improves to 2-0.

Senior May Dudek activated the scoring just 2:15 into the first half. The Lady J's did not hold onto the lead for very long. Just 14 seconds after Dudek scored the Lion's Elyse Pultz scored her first of three goals to tie the game 1-1.

The match remained scoreless until the 13:59 mark when Columbia took the lead off a free position goal by Liz Sanseau. Manhattan answered back at 19:11 when senior Victoria Carman scored an unassisted goal. This is the closest the Jaspers would get to capturing the lead for the remainder of the game. Columbia went on a three-goal scoring streak before the Lady Jasper's sophomore Jenny Carman would score one more for Manhattan before the end of the first half. At halftime Columbia led 6-3.

Columbia took an 8-3 lead before junior Molly Pheterson scored the Lady J's lone goal in the second half. The Jaspers were outshot 14-7.

Sophomore Ashley Devins played all 60 minutes recording nine saves and Columbia's Marcela Calidonio tallied five saves.

The Lady J's play again on Tuesday, March 22 against Wagner in Staten Island, NY at 3:30 p.m.
