Davidson, NC (February 27, 2005)- Four Manhattan errors led to six Davidson runs, as the Wildcats posted a 7-2 win over the Jaspers this afternoon in the finale of the three game series. Matt Rizzotti went 3-4 with an RBI to pace Manhattan.

After three scoreless innings, Davidson was able to push across a run in the bottom of the fourth, using two Manhattan errors to break the scoreless tie.

Manhattan responded in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs. Eric Nieto manufactured the first run, singling to center before stealing second, advancing to third on a failed pickoff attempt, and scoring on a passed ball. Rizzotti plated Gary Diaz with an RBI single for the second marker of the inning.

In the bottom of the seventh, Steve Bronder relieved Manhattan starter Josh Santerre, who allowed no earned runs in six innings of work. In the inning, the Wildcat's leadoff batter belted a homer to knot the game at 2-2, and, later in the innings, Davidson took the lead, plating the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

The Wildcats cushioned their lead with four runs in the bottom of the eighth, using three hits and two Jasper errors to open up the final, 7-2, margin.

Manhattan returns to the diamond when the Jaspers travel to Texas Christian University for a three game series, with the first game being played at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4.
