Before Manhattan:  At Lynbrook HS, was All-County in Cross Country; in indoor track for the mile, 1000m and 2 mile; and in outdoor track for the 2 mile, steeplechase and 4x800m... holds school records in he 3000 steeplechase, 2000m steeplechase, indoor 2 mile, indoor mile, indoor 1000m, indoor 4x800m, indoor distance medlay relay, indoor 4xmile... high school was team cross country champions in 2004 and 2005 and winter track champions in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Personal:  Majoring in Engineering... son of Richard and Dolores Brethel... has three siblings:  Brian, Kyle and Chris.
