EMMITSBURG, MD – The Manhattan Jaspers softball team (5-18, 2-3 MAAC) split Tuesday's doubleheader against the Mountaineers of Mount St. Mary's (MD) (5-19, 1-4 MAAC) after securing victory in the front-end 7-0, but falling in game two 10-1 in a run-ruled five-inning contest at Our Lady of the Meadows Field.
GAME ONE (Manhattan: 7 | Mount St. Mary's: 0)
- The Jaspers opened their trip to Maryland with an extra-base hit coming from Michayla Rodriguez, hitting a two-out three-bagger but couldn't cross the plate.
- In the next inning, Angelina Gencarelli was hit by a pitch to open the second inning. Then, Karissa Spring knocked a double into left-center field to drive in Gencarelli to put the Jaspers on the board.
- The top of the third inning featured more of the same, with a quartet of hits, highlighted by Rodriguez's single up the middle to drive in Lindsey Hoag, who opened the inning with a base hit.
- Manhattan recorded an additional three runs in the top of the fifth, with Rodriguez reaching base for the third time. Followed by Sophia Kiseloski joining the party with a double to right center. Then, Victoria Diaz drove home an additional two baserunners to give the Green and White a commanding six-run lead.
- Kiseloski wasn't done, as she led off the top of the seventh inning with her third round-tripper of the 2025 campaign to give the Jaspers its second league win.
GAME TWO (Mount St. Mary's: 10 | Manhattan: 1)
- Looking to continue where they left off from the first game, the Jaspers struggled to replicate its performance against the Mount.
- Sophia Kiseloski got in and out of trouble in the home half of the first after surrendering one run, followed by the Mountaineers lining one back to Kiseloski. Followed by a pop-up to Gencarelli to close out the inning.
- After the Mount extended its lead against Manhattan, the Jaspers found some life with Jamie Falotico working a walk in the fifth inning. Then, after two ground-outs, Falotico moved to third, where she came into score the lone Jasper run off Brianna Estevez singling up the middle before Diaz popped up to end the game.
STATS AND NOTES
- Karissa Spring turned in another near-perfect performance in the circle by punching out two in complete-game fashion. Additionally, Spring surrendered four hits. Spring logged three hits in the batter's box, including a double.
- Sophia Kiseloski added three runs-batted-in to her individual ledger in the front end of the doubleheader.
- Victoria Diaz and Brianna Estevez each logged one hit in the second game of the doubleheader at Mount. The latter recorded the lone run-batted-in of the late-afternoon contest.

Head Coach Bridget Hurlman: "Great win in the first game. Karissa was lights out, and we had offensive contributions up and down the lineup. In the second game, we did not perform to our capabilities, and we have to learn and adjust as a group from it."
