RIVERDALE, NY — Manhattan men's lacrosse (4-3, 2-0 MAAC) used a big fourth quarter to defeat Mount St. Mary's (2-6, 0-2 MAAC) 13-11 on Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park. The Jaspers improved to 2-0 in MAAC play.
HOW IT HAPPENED

The Jaspers jumped out to a 2-0 lead on early goals from Kelly DuPree and Thomas White.

A goal from Carter Quested cut the deficit to 2-1 on an assist from Mekai Nelson at 6:03.

Manhattan responded with another first-quarter goal at 1:17 when Scott O'Connor found the back of the net.

The game then turned into a back-and-forth affair when the Mount added two more goals—first from Brody Atkinson and the second from Seamus McCloskey—in back-to-back fashion to tie the game at 3.

The Mount tacked on two more to make the score 5-3 before Manhattan would respond with two late goals from Connor Engel to make the halftime score 5-5.

A goal from Collin St. Thomson at 14:03 of the third quarter regained a 6-5 lead for the Mount.

The Jaspers would answer the bell immediately, with Engel finding twine and beating Mount goalie Bennett Wright to tie the score at six apiece with 13:18 left.

Manhattan turned the lead back in its advantage again with Kelly DuPree getting his second goal of the game on an assist from Engel. Manhattan led 7-6 with 9:44 left in the third quarter.

Three more goals over the next nine plus minutes resulted in an 8-8 tie at the end of three quarters.

Manhattan did its part to take control of the game by scoring the first three goals of the fourth quarter, with DuPree adding his fourth goal of the game. The assist came from Peabody, his third of the afternoon.

Sean Shelko and Drew Hiner added goals 10 and 11 respectively to put Manhattan in the driver's seat.

The Jaspers closed with goals from Scott O'Connor—his second of the day—at 5:57 and a finish from Aiden Kane at 1:52 off an assist from Shelko, his third of the day.

All told, the Jaspers outscored the Mount 5-3 in the fourth quarter.

The Jaspers have won two in a row and are one three teams undefeated in MAAC play, along with Quinnipiac and Canisius.
