RIVERDALE, NY — Manhattan closed the second quarter of Saturday's home finale vs. Niagara on a 13-5 run and never looked back, defeating the Purple Eagles 75-52. Manhattan women's basketball honored its five seniors before tip-off on Senior Day.
HOW IT HAPPENED

Niagara jumped out to an 8-0 lead following a lay-up by Marlie Dickerson at the 5:49 mark.

Manhattan responded with a quick 6-0 run to cut the deficit to two before closing on another 6-0 run to tie the score at 12 after one.

Niagara put its foot on the gas with a 7-0 run midway through the second quarter that regained a six-point lead for the Purple Eagles at 24-18.

Manhattan closed the second quarter on the 13-5 run capped off by a basket from Ines Gimenez Monserrat with 24 seconds left.

The Jaspers took a 32-29 lead into the locker room after Amar and Petra Juric dropped six points apiece across the opening 20 minutes.

Manhattan held Niagara to only two field goals during a foul-plagued third quarter that saw the Purple Eagles add 12 points from the charity stripe.

Manhattan increased its lead to 12 at 57-45 at the end of the third quarter.

Four straight two-point field goals from Gimenez Monserrat, Hana Muhl, Brianna Davis and Muhl again ballooned the lead to 23 coming down the stretch.

A basket from Kristina Juric less than a minute later was the final punch in the lopsided win.

Manhattan was paced by 16 points from Amar on 3-4 shooting from deep.

Ines Gimenez Monserrat, Nitzan Amar, Petra Juric, Leyla Ozturk and Caroline de Klauman all played their final games at Draddy Gymnasium.

de Klauman got the start in her first career game for the Jaspers after transferring to Manhattan three years ago. de Klauman has missed the past three seasons due to injury.

Gimenez Monserrat, Amar, Juric and Ozturk all checked out for the final time at Draddy at the 2:58 mark.

Petra Juric played in 53 games at Draddy across four seasons.
