EDISON, NJ — Freshman Tranira Booker has been named MAAC Female Track Athlete of the Week, according to a MAAC release. A native of Valdosta, Georgia, Booker shined on the track at Yale University's Giegengack Invitational, setting a new personal record of 7.79 seconds in the 60m to earn 8th place.

"Tranira is having an outstanding rookie campaign," said Kerri Inman, director of cross country and track & field. "This is a well deserved recognition ahead of MAACs."

Booker's ascent has been a big part of the Manhattan women's track & field program this season. At the Ramapo College Season Opener in January, Booker twice set personal standards in the 60m and posted a season-high mark of 26.27 seconds in the 200m.

Booker has been a fixture for Manhattan relays too, with the 4x400 relay led by Booker capturing second place at the West Point Open to kick off the new year. Booker along with Martina Martinez, Ellianne Fernandez and SaRae Kennard were timestamped at 4:21.56 in the event.

Booker and the Jaspers will look to leave their mark at the MAAC Championships this Saturday and Sunday at "The Armory."
