Box Score JACKSONVILLE, Fl – The Manhattan softball team dropped their final two contests of their first early season tournament, in a doubleheader with Jacksonville Sunday in the UNF/JU Classic.
Game 1 – Jacksonville 9 Manhattan 0 (5 innings)
Jacksonville set the tone for the day early this morning, tallying six runs in the first inning, coming off of five hits. The Dolphins would score a singular run in the second, before adding two more in the fourth, to go up 9-0 and come out victorious in five innings.
Sophia Kiseloski started for Manhattan, throwing three innings and letting up seven runs, but only two of them earned. Karissa Spring would come in to throw the last inning, allowing two runs.
Christa Pritchard picked up the win for the Dolphins, throwing three shutout innings, while Skylar Waggoner and Jordan White both threw a scoreless frame for Jacksonville. Manhattan was held to three hits and five total base runners.
Game 2 – Jacksonville 8 Manhattan 0 (5 innings)
Kailey Harrigan would be the big producer in game two for the Dolphins, opening the game up with an RBI single in the first inning, before coming back up in the second innings and powering a three-run home run down the left field line. Jacksonville went up 6-0 after two innings and would not look back. The Dolphins would produce another run in the third inning, as well as one in the fifth, putting them up 8-0, enough to end the game after five.
Ava Metzger threw the first 1.2 innings for Manhattan, with Molly Charest throwing the final 2.2 innings. Both pitchers allowed two earned runs.
Reese Wells picked up the win for Jacksonville throwing four shutout innings. Manhattan was held to three hits and four total base runners.
The Jaspers return to the diamond on Sunday for their last two games of the classic vs Jacksonville starting at 9 a.m.
