Lytovchenko Secures Major Award on Day Two of MAAC Championships

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Manhattan's track and field finished fourth at the 2023 MAAC Outdoor Championships. The Jaspers also had a major award winner, with Ivan Lytovchenko taking home Field Rookie of the Meet honors.
 
Lytovchenko finished second in the high jump after clearing 2.03m. The first-year Jasper was 0.05m off the winning height from Dylan LaNoue of Mount St. Mary's.
 
Rider won the men's team title with 210 points. Mount St. Mary's finished second and Iona came in third.

The Jaspers picked up one MAAC Title in the 4x400 on Sunday afternoon in a time of 3:15.03. The time hits the IC4A qualifying standard. The Jaspers were over two seconds clear of Rider in second place.

Noah Jefferson will return to Riverdale with a Silver Medal in the 400m, finishing the race in 47.80 seconds.

Peter Athanailos finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 41.29m (135' 5"). He also finished fourth in the shot put with a top mark of 14.37m (47' 1.75") RJ Decker finished sixth in the discus with a throw of 40.55m (133-0). The final Jasper to compete in the Discus was Myron Corpuz, who finished seventh with a top mark of 40.10m (131-7).

In the other two relay races this afternoon, the 4x100 and 4x800, the Jaspers finished in third and sixth. the 4x100 team posted a time that meets the IC4A standard.

In the 100m hurdle, Kaya Simpson and O'Dell Holland, Jr. finished in fifth and seventh respectively with times of 15.27 and 15.77. Simpson also placed fifth in the 400m hurdles, crossing the finish line in 55.46 seconds.

The 800m featured a pair of Jaspers, with Quemarii Williams and Johnelle Joe finishing back-to-back in sixth and seventh with times of 1:54.19 and 1:54.96.

Michael Hennelly came in fifth in the 5000m with a time of 14:49.14.
