RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Following a 3-1 week which featured a pair of walk-off wins and MAAC series win, the Manhattan baseball team returns to action this week with another four-game slate.
Manhattan welcomes Hofstra for a Wednesday meeting under the lights with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. Tyler Babel will be given the start for the third straight midweek action. As for the team's MAAC series, they will make the trip up to Loudonville for a weekend series with the Siena Saints.
Manhattan is coming off a thrilling week that started with a 14-13 come-from-behind win against Stony Brook, which was capped off by a Frankie Marinelli RBI single. Following the team's thrilling midweek win, the Jaspers walked off once again on Saturday, this time in extra innings. After dropping the series opener against Marist, 8-2, Manhattan once again came from behind to win in 10 innings, 6-5, behind a Ryan Eaton single to right field.
The Green and White took the rubber game on Sunday with the Red Foxes, 10-6, behind eight runs in the second and third innings which was highlighted by a three-run dinger by Pete Durocher, the fourth one of the year. Connor O'Neill earned the win that day after five innings of work and yielding three earned runs.
This will be the Jaspers second look at the Pride this season, with the first meeting taking place in Hempstead which concluded with an 11-4 win in favor of the Pride. Hofstra will arrive at Clover Stadium on Wednesday after a meeting with LIU the day prior.
Kevin Bruggerman has been one of the offensive sparks for the Pride this season, turning in an average of .333 and 26 RBI when the week began.
As for the Saints, they will play a pair of midweek contests against Binghamton and UMass before the Jaspers take to the field up in Loudonville. They enter the week with a record of 9-31 overall and a mark of 3-9 in the MAAC. Last week, the Saints dropped its MAAC series with the Iona Gaels, 2-1.
