POMONA, N.Y. – The Manhattan baseball team suffered a 10-2 setback Wednesday afternoon at the hands of the LIU Sharks at Clover Stadium.
Manhattan (9-22) now sets its sights on its first trip to Western New York for a weekend MAAC series with the Niagara Purple Eagles.
The two teams traded runs in the fourth inning with the Sharks belting a home run to left field to score first.
Trevor Hansen reached on an error by the Sharks' first basemen which brought
Pete Durocher home to tie the ball game up. Hansen was set up by Durocher, who opened the inning with a standing triple to dead center.
LIU brought two around in the fifth, once again utilizing the long ball to score one more. While the Green and White did get one of those two back in the home half of the fifth on a sacrifice fly by
Ryan Ash, LIU brought around six unanswered runs in the final innings of the game.
