BRANCHBURG, N.J. - The Manhattan golf team's match play event against Wagner ended in a 4.5-4.5 tie.
The event took place at Fox Hollow Golf Club, with nine players on each team squared up against one another in a match-play format. Each matchup was worth one point, with a tie awarding .5 points to each team.
The match started as Tyler Nguyen was defeated by Wagner's Matthew Schurin 6 and 5, giving Wagner the early one-point advantage.
Ashley Sewell won his match against Wagner's Josh Hayes 2 up, knotting the score at 1-1.
However, the following three matchups all went to Wagner as Finbar Bonner lost his match vs. Johnny Svalina 1 down, David Mlynek lost to Tyler Galantini 5 and 4, and Dimitri Mihelakos lost to Luke Bigelow on the 18th hole, finishing one down.
Trailing 4-1, the next two matches went to the Jaspers as Colby Norton finished one up on Thomas Choi, and Max Levine won his match vs Renato Gerena 7 and 5.
With Wagner up 4-3, it was only fitting that the match's fate came down to the two seniors honored today.
Senior Jimmy Escoto took on Rasmus Seppanen and finished one up after winning the 18th hole.
Senior Lincoln Haymaker and Wagner's Michael Foley battled all round long, resulting in a tie, ultimately deciding the event as a whole in a tie.
The Jaspers next hit the course April 14th-15th as they head to Kingston, New York, to participate in the Roor-EE Invitational at Wiltwyck Golf Club.
