Jaspers Travel to Buffalo for MAAC Championships

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Jaspers move on to compete in the postseason at the MAAC Championships in Buffalo, N.Y., starting on Wednesday evening. 

For the 12th straight season, Erie Community College will serve as the host for the MAAC Championships. The championships will be streamed on MAAC.TV. 

The men will be coming into the championships after recently competing against Sarah Lawrence last week, winning the meet 73-2. Highlights from the meet include Jonathan CarsenLouis Quinn, and Jorge Flechas finishing one-two-three in the 50-yard freestyle. Abelardo Cartagena and Jack Martin finished first and second in the 50-yard backstroke, with times of 28.86 and 30.76. The men also won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:52.01

The women had more time off than the men, having last competed against Iona a little over a week ago. That matchup resulted in a 156-36 loss. Despite the loss, Abbey Mink broke an old school record for the 100-yard individual medley with a finishing time of 1:01.48, beating the 1:02.13 record. Mackenzie Tuttle placed second in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle. Teddy Segmuller won the 50-yard free for the Jaspers, touching the wall at 25.30. Natalia Velez-Serrano also won an event for the Jaspers, the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:22.31. The women also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a finishing time of 1:48.27.
