RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's basketball team is on a three-game win streak and will play their first two Metro Atlantic Atheltic Conference (MAAC) games against Rider University this Saturday at Draddy Gymnasium at 2 p.m. and Fairfield University this Monday at 7 p.m. at Leo D. Mahoney Arena.
The Preview: Last time out, the Jaspers played Rider on Mar. 2, 2023, with Manhattan winning, 69-52. The last time Manhattan played Fairfield was on Feb. 2, 2023, with the Jaspers earning the W, 53-46.
The Opponent: Rider (2-6) lost its season opener against Saint Joseph's University 71-49. In their last game, Rider fell to the University of Virginia 78-58. Makayla Firebaugh led the Rider Broncs in scoring with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Fairfield (7-1) won its season open against Lehman 100-14. Fairfield is on a five-game winning streak, has cracked the Mid Major Top 25, and won its last game against Fordham, 77-74. Janelle Brown led Fairfield in scoring with 21 points and Meghan Andersen added 18 points.
Leading the Way: The Jaspers were led by
Petra Juric, who had her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Anne Bair finished with 13 points and six assists.
Ines Gimenez Monserrat had 13 points and four rebounds to round out the double-digit scorers in Manhattan's last game against Vermont.
