RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan women's basketball team opens up the 2023-24 season with a home game versus Central Connecticut State this Monday at 7 p.m. at Draddy Gymnasium.
 
The Preview: The team defeated Queens College 68-42 in an exhibition. Manhattan was led by Jayla James, who had 14 points, five steals and three rebounds. Anne Bair and Tegan Young had 13 points apiece, while Petra Juric had a game-high 11 rebounds. The Jaspers never trailed in the game as they led by as many as 29 points, shot 36.1 from the floor, while holding the Knights to 29.5 percent. 
 
Season Openers: Last season, the Jaspers fell to Wagner in overtime, 63-60 to open the season. Manhattan's last season-opening win came on Nov. 9, 2021 in a 74-66 victory over St. Francis Brooklyn at home.
 
What's Ahead: Manhattan will remain home when it hosts George Washington on Friday night at 6 p.m.
