TEANECK, N.J. – Manhattan dropped a Tuesday night contest against FDU in three sets. The Knights won by scores of 25-18, 25-14, 25-22.
The offense was lead by Julia Menocal having a team-high 11 kills tonight. To back up those kills Julieanne McKee had 10 assists. Defensively, Teresa Garza led the team with 7 total digs for the game.
Despite taking the early lead in sets one and two, Manhattan (0-10) had a hard time defending against FDU's offensive attack. In the first set, Manhattan was able to up jump out to an early 4-0 lead. That lead was maintained until the Knights took a 10-9 lead. In the second set, it was a back and forth affair, where neither team could open up a lead greater than two points. However, towards the middle of the set, FDU went on a seven-point run, kicked off by an attack error by the Jaspers, to make the set 18-10.
The third set was the most exciting of the night, with a final score of 25-22. Towards the end of the set, a kill by Menocal was able to bring the game within one point making the score 22-21. Unfortunately, right after that FDU was able to score two back to back points, ultimately taking the set out of reach for the Jaspers.
