NEW YORK – Friday, the Manhattan men's track and field team opened the 2022 Metropolitan Championships.
The Jaspers lead the team standings after the first day of competition with 33 points.
Manhattan finished 1-2 in the hammer with RJ Decker claiming top honors with a best of 58.92m. Joseph Pelio was second with a best of 49.72m The win is the first for Decker outdoors this season.
Michael Hennelly took top honors in the 10k. The senior clocked a 32:13.81 to win by over a minute.
The Jaspers return to Icahn Stadium tomorrow, Saturday, for day two of the Metropolitan Championships.
