Jaspers Win at Niagara and Earn Sixth Seed in MAAC Championship

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. – Three goals from Meghan Rodino and six other goal scores lifted Manhattan past Niagara 12-10 on Sunday in Niagara University, N.Y. 
  
Grace Lipponer opened the scoring (10-7, 4-4 MAAC) less than two minutes in for Manhattan. The senior added another goal and an assist during a four-goal run for the Jaspers to end the second quarter. 
  
The scoring run gave the Jaspers a 7-4 lead to end the half.  
  
The team combined for three goals in the third quarter. Rodino started the scoring for Manhattan with her second of the day. Rodino added another goal in the quarter with an assist from Lipponer. Those two assists brought her season total to 31, a new program recorded.  

Niagara (9-8, 5-3) cut the lead to one, 11-10, with 7:14 to play on a goal from Lexi Braniecki. Ava Fernandes scored less than two minutes to play; Lipponer added the assist.  
  
Rodino finished with a hat trick and an assist. Julianna Iovine, Lipponer, and Olivia Cruthers scored a pair of goals.  

Ashley Gambardella made nine saves in today's contest and passed 300 career saves in goal for Manhattan. 
  
On Saturday, April 30, Manhattan returns to action at the 2022 MAAC Championship. Manhattan will be the six seed in the MAAC Championship.
