LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Manhattan avoided a series sweep with a 7-5 win at Rider on Sunday afternoon.

Manhattan (17-19, 7-8 MAAC) withstood a five-run second inning from Rider (20-17, 8-4) by scoring in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to pick up its 10th road win of the season.

The Jaspers got on the board first via a Trevor Santos two-RBI single in the top of the second.

Rider would respond in the bottom half with all five of its runs for the afternoon. Three straight hits to start the frame cut the Jasper lead in half. Jordan Erbe and Socrates Bardatsos drove in two runs with hits later in the inning to complete the five-run frame.

Manhattan got back to within one after a Pete Durocher RBI triple and an RBI groundout from Jack Lynch in the third.

After tying the game in the fourth, Manhattan pushed across the two decisive runs in the fifth. Two singles and fielder's choice made it a 6-5 game when Durocher scored. Three batters later, Lynch scored on a Santos sacrifice fly.

Matt Padre had a team-high three hits and scored once. The three hits extended the catcher's hitting streak to five games. Durocher and Lynch had multi-hit days, and Santos drove in a season-best three runs.

On the mound, John Farley picked up his fourth save of the year after tossing 3.2 innings of scoreless relief of starter Kyle Lesler.

On Wednesday, the Jaspers are back in action when they travel north to Albany to face UAlbany at 3 p.m.
