WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Friday was the first day of competition at the Colonial Relays at William & Mary for the Manhattan men's track and field team.
The Jaspers hit five IC4A qualifying marks on Saturday. Those marks came in the hammer, 100m, 1500m, 5k, and 10k.
RJ Decker finished second in the hammer with a best of 60.28m. Decker posted his best mark on his sixth and final attempt of the day.
On the track, Dean Niosi hit an IC4A mark in the 100m with an 11.00 time. Ryan Tierney clocked a 3:54.17 in the 1500m to beat an IC4A standard. In the distance events, David Lozipone finished the 5k in 14:38.86 to eclipse the IC4A mark. In the 10k, Michael Hennelly crossed the line in 30:16.94 to get inside the IC4A qualifying standard.
Brian Oduor logged a third-place finish for the Jaspers in the long jump after clearing 6.75m.
The Jaspers return to action at William and Mary tomorrow for the second and final day of the Colonial Relays.
