RALEIGH, N.C. – The Manhattan men's track and field team competed in the shot put and the 1500m on the first day of the Raleigh Relays at NC State.
Anu Awonusi finished 21st in the shot put on Thursday. The graduate student posted a best of 16.23m, which is within one meter of his collegiate-best outdoors. Awonusi posted the mark on his first attempt of the day.
Marc Carrera and Ryan Tierney ran in the 1500m. Carrera clocked a time of 3:52.10 to finish eighth in his heat. Carrera's time is just over a second off his collegiate-best outside. Tierney finished in 3:55.64 to also finish in eighth in his heat. Like Carrera, Tierney's time is just over a second off his personal best as a Jasper outdoors.
The Jaspers are in action tomorrow at NC State and Monmouth.
