WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Manhattan men's track and field team opened the indoor season at the Crowell open on Saturday.
In the 60m hurdles,
Kaya Simpson finished in fifth place with a time of 8.70. Simpson qualified in third place with a time of 8.55. In the mile run,
Andrew Simard recorded a fifth-place finish in 4:32.4.
RJ Decker started his season strong, coming in second in the weight throw with a final mark of 19.39 meters. Cameron Smith of Army won the event with a meet-record of 20.41 meters.
Myron Corpuz made his Jasper debut with a fourth-place finish, finishing with a 15.71-meter throw on his second attempt in the event.
Harrison Alonzo finished in fifth in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 41.48 seconds.
Jay Glenn came in seventh in his Jasper debut, finishing in 51.89.
The 4x400 relay team came in third, consisting of Alonzo, Glenn,
Dean Niosi, and
Brian Oduor, finishing in 3:26.65.
Michael Hennelly will take home second place in the 3000m, finishing in 8:37.01. Teammate
Justin Jordaens came in seventh, clocking in a final time of 8:54.24.
The Jaspers will race again in the new year, running in the MLK Tribute on Jan. 16.
