Jaspers Face Saint Peter's & Quinnipiac This Weekend

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Manhattan returns to action on Friday at Saint Peter's before hosting Quinnipiac on Sunday. It marks the first action for the Jaspers since Dec. 19 at Marist.
 
Manhattan tips in Jersey City, N.J., against Saint Peter's at 2 p.m. on Friday and at home at 4 p.m. against Quinnipiac on Sunday.
 
Manhattan hit 14 3-pointers to move to 2-0 in MAAC play with an 80-69 win at Marist. Manhattan went 14-26 from 3-point range. The 14 makes were one off the single-game program record. Samir Stewart hit six triples for the Jaspers. Ant Nelson supplied three and four other Jaspers connected from behind the arc. Offensively, the Jaspers were clicking from the start. Manhattan shot 50-percent from the floor in the first half, then improved to 57-percent over the second 20 minutes. The Jaspers shot over 50-percent from 3-point range in both halves, including 58-percent in the second half.
 
The Peacocks last played on Dec. 22 at Maryland, losing 75-45. Saint Peter's had won back-to-back games against Hartford, and Quinnipiac prior and are 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the MAAC. So far this season, the Peacocks are 5-1 on their home floor, with the lone loss coming against Mount St. Mary's. Isiah Dasher leads the team in scoring at 13.5 points per game. Jaylen Murray is also in double figures at 12.6 per game. Dasher is averaging 19 points per game in MAAC games.
 
Quinnipiac will visit Siena on Friday before coming to Draddy on Sunday. The Bobcats started the year 7-0 but are 2-4 since and have dropped their first two games of league play. Four Bobcats average at least 10 points per game. The leader of the team is Ike Nweke, at 11.1 points per game. Preseason First Team All-MAAC selection Matt Balanc is second on the team in scoring at 11.0 per game.
 
Manhattan hit 14 3-pointers at Marist. It was the fifth time this season that Manhattan hit at least 10 3-pointers in a game. The Jaspers shot 53.8-percent from behind the arc against the Red Foxes, which was a season-best by over 13 percentage points.
 
A win on Friday would move the Jaspers to 3-0 in MAAC play. It would be the first 3-0 start in league play since the 2013-14 campaign. That year was the first of back-to-back MAAC Tournament Championships for the Jaspers.
