Jaspers Draw With Purple Eagles on Senior Day

RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The regular season for the Manhattan men's soccer team wrapped Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park with a scoreless draw with the Niagara Purple Eagles.

The Jaspers regular season record finished at 7-4-6, 5-1-4 in the MAAC. Niagara moves to 4-8-5, 3-2-4.

Prior to the match beginning, the team honored nine seniors who are a part of the graduating class this year.

"'Today was a proud moment for all of us as we honored our 9 seniors who helped build our program back to where it belongs.  They gave us dedication and loyalty, especially throughout the pandemic, and they are here now, excelling on and off the field like Jaspers always do," said Head Coach Jorden Scott "I am excited to see them succeed in life and become alum and ambassadors for our program around the world in the future."

Despite not finding the back of the net, both teams had good looks at the net. The first came for the Jaspers, with Kevin Alvarado missing high in the seventh minute.

Not too long after, Dorian Bounab had another great look at the net in the 16th minute, but the Purple Eagles keeper was there to make the save. In the 83rd minute, James Lucas managed to get a good look at the net but sent the shot left of the net.

Daniel Polakowski once again found himself between the posts this afternoon, making one save while earning his first collegiate solo clean sheet.

The Jaspers season continues in the MAAC Championships, with the first round scheduled to take place next Sunday, November 6.
