Nogueira Wins Fordham Fiasco Individual Title

Graduate student Pelle Nogueira won the 8K Fordham Fiasco to lead the way for the Manhattan Cross Country Team at VCP.

* Nogueira captured his first individual title with a mark of 26:17.03, defeating Fordham's Steve Zucca by more than 27 seconds.

* Fueled by Nogueira, the Jaspers finished second out of 11 teams with 41 points.

* Saint Joseph's won the team title with 31 points.

* Senior Michael Hennelly was the second Green & White runner to cross the finish line, placing fourth with a mark of 26:54.42.

* Nogueira shaved 21 seconds off of his previous best time at VCP, while Hennelly's performance was a personal-best in the park by less than a second.

* Senior Marc Carrera also finished in the top-10, placing ninth in a VCP personal-best time of 27:28.22.

* Classmates Liam Farrell took 16th (27:56.79) and David Lozipone 17th (28:00.91) to round out the scorers Manhattan.

* Junior Andria Scaglione led the Jaspers in the 5K race, placing second in 19:18.61.

* For Scaglione, it marks the 10th time in as many meets over her two-plus years that she has paced the Green & White.

* Classmate Rory Graham made her season debut, and was the second Manhattan runner to finish and 19th overall in 21:00.81.

* Fellow junior Nicola Scaglione finished just behind Graham in 20th with a mark of 21:01.31

* Seniors Hali Ielfield took 22nd (21:21.91) and Shayna Arrigo was 30th (21:40.55), rounding out the scorers for the Jaspers.

* Claire Cushing from St. John's was the first runner to cross the line, finishing with a time of 19:06.5.

* Fordham claimed the team-title with 38 points, with St. John's (65), Saint Joseph's (84) and Manhattan (84) rounding out the top-four.

* Both teams return to action on Saturday, September 25 at the Jasper XC Fall Invitational at Twin Ponds on the Farm.
