Manhattan Clipped At Holy Cross

 Manhattan dropped a back-and-forth affair at Holy Cross by a 3-2 score at Linda Johnson Smith Stadium.

* The Jaspers struck first in the 39th minute, when following a Crusader yellow card, freshman Harry Bark found the back of the net.

* Unfortunately, the lead would be short-lived as Bergin Kranz responded with the equalizer in the 40th minute.

* Manhattan reclaimed the lead 25 seconds into the second half as fifth-year senior Oswald Annang scored off a feed from sophomore Matias Leaniz.

* The Jaspers appeared poised to add to their lead in the 72nd minute, but junior Lucas Cyriacus shot on goal was deflected while setting up a corner kick opportunity.

* Holy Cross would tie it up in the 82nd minute when Matt McGonigle scored, before taking the lead in the 83rd off a Jack Ostrosky strike.

* Manhattan would earn a corner kick in the 85th minute but was unable to convert.

* Both teams had four corner kicks, with the Crusaders holding a 15-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in shots on goal.

* Annang now has three career goals and seven career assists, while newcomers Bark (goal) and Leaniz registered their first points as Jaspers.

* Junior Hunter Kochiss made three saves in goal.

* The Jaspers will next play at Temple on Saturday, September 4 at 3:00 pm.
