Box Score (GM 2) | Box Score (GM 1)

New Rochelle, NY -
Manhattan split a midweek doubleheader at Iona, taking the second game by an 8-0 count after dropping the opener by a score of 5-0.

With the split, the Jaspers are now 17-11 while Gaels are 16-9.

Game Two
* Graduate student Nicole Williams (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) fired a three-hit shutout, while the offense erupted for eight runs on nine hits as Manhattan won game two 8-0.

* The Jaspers opened up the scoring in the top of the second when sophomore Gabriella Mazzotta (Somers, NY / Somers) plated classmate Marika Deemer (Perrysburg, OH / Perrysburg) with a RBI single, before senior Emma Kindblom (Wilbraham, MA / Wilbraham & Monson Academy) scampered home on a wild pitch.

* Manhattan added to the lead in the fourth, when graduate student Christine Gebhardt (Middletown, NJ / Middletown North) chased home Kindblom with a two-out RBI single.

* The Jaspers put the game out of reach with five runs in the top of the sixth. Deemer led off with a single, before moving to third on a Lauren Rende (So., Ardsley, NY / Ardsley) double. Pinch-hitter Kaitlyn Flood (So., Southbury, CT / Pomperaug) brought around Deemer with a sacrifice fly, and Rende would cross the plate one batter later on Mazzotta's second RBI single of the game.

* Following a fielder's choice grounder and junior Annie Moore's (Northridge, CA / El Camino Real) third hit of the game, Daniela Chiorazzi (Sr., Stony Point, NY / North Rockland) crushed a three-run home run to left field to push the advantage out to 8-0.

* Williams would then close out the game by setting down the side in order in the bottom of the sixth.

* The fifth-year senior improved to 8-1 on the year, striking out four over 6.0 dominating innings.

Game One
* Iona took the opener by a 5-0 count over Manhattan thanks in large part to the pitching of Kara Zazzaro.

* Chiorazzi went 2-for-3 with a stolen base, while Mazzotta was 1-for-2 with a walk to lead the way for the Jaspers.

* Deemer was solid in relief, striking out two over 1.1 innings.

* Manhattan will host Iona in doubleheader action on Tuesday, May 4 at 12:00 pm.
