Riverdale, NY - Monmouth defeated Manhattan by a 14-8 count in the first of two match-ups between the teams at Gaelic Park.
* After the Hawks opened the scoring, graduate student Deb Peifer (Collegeville, PA / Methacton) found the back of the net on a free-position shot.
* Monmouth responded with an 8-2 spurt, with senior Alaina Burgess (Holden, MA / The Governor's Academy) registering both Jasper scores.
* Junior Grace Lipponer (Lake Grove, NY / Sachem North) and senior Carmella Liscio (Blauvelt, NY / Tappan Zee) capped the first-half scoring with back-to-back goals to trim the Monmouth advantage at the break to 10-5.
* Liscio would net the next two Manhattan goals to pull the Green & White to within four at 11-7 with 22:48 remaining in regulation.
* The Jaspers would once again get to within four following a Lipponer free-position goal with 14:42 to play.
* Liscio finished with a season-high three goals, while the high-scoring duo of Burgess and Lipponer each scored twice.
* The trio have combined for 44 of Manhattan's 66 goals this year.
* Liscio also had three draw controls.
* Sophomore Ashley Gambardella (Bethpage, NY / Plainedge) made seven saves with three ground balls in goal.
* Freshman Julie Rosica (Cinnaminson, NJ / Camden Catholic) scooped up a career-high four ground balls, while senior Grace Steinthal (White Plains, NY / Harborfields) also had three to pace a Manhattan team that registered 20 on the day, compared to just 14 for Monmouth.
* The Jaspers fall to 0-7, while the Hawks improve to 6-2.
* Manhattan will host Monmouth on Sunday, April 18 at 12:00 pm, with Senior Day festivities to start at 11:40 am.
