New York, NY - Manhattan opened the 2021 Outdoor Track and Field season at the Fordham Co-Vid Invitational at ICahn Stadium and did not disappoint, registering three first-place performances.
* Sophomore
Andria Scaglione (Oceanside, NY / Oceanside) won the 5000 meters by over 20 seconds, finishing first with a mark of 17:22.59.
* Senior
Alexandra Preckajlo (Ocean, NJ / St. Rose) took home top honors in the shot put with a throw of 14.67 meters (48-1.75).
* Junior
Cassie Riley (Fair Haven, NJ / Red Bank Catholic) tied for top honors in the high jump, clearing 1.58 meters (5-2.25).
* On the men's side junior
Larry McCullum (Piscataway, NJ / Piscataway) finished third in the 200-meter dash, clocking a 22.57.
* Classmate
Marc Carrera (Staten Island, NY / St. Peter's) took third in the 1500 meters, registering a time of 3:55.01.
* The 4x100 relay team of
Dean Niosi (Fr., Staten Island, NY / Farrell),
Noah Jefferson (So., Ossining, NY / Ossining),
Kaya Simpson (So., Edgewood, MD / Harford Technical) and
Seth Goitia (New Windsor, NY / Cornwall Central) by a tenth of a second in 42.87.
* Manhattan will next be in action at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10.
