Manhattan Splits At Siena

Albany, NY -
 Playing at the site of the 2020-21 MAAC Championship, Manhattan split a pair of match-ups with Siena at the Albany Convention Center.

The Jaspers posted a dominating four-set victory in the second match after dropping a five-set heartbreaker in the opener.

With the split, the Green & White is now 2-4, while the Saints are 1-2.

Match Two
Manhattan won by scores of 25-18, 23-25, 25-23 and 25-16, thanks to hitting at a season-best.250 with four Jaspers registering double-figures in kills.

Freshman Bianca Vieira (Land O' Lakes, FL / Land O' Lakes) registered a match-high 15 kills, on .237 hitting, with 13 digs, while junior Abby Wilde (Parkesberg, PA / Octorora) also collected a double-double with 24 assists and 13 digs.

Seniors Erin Hoener (St. Louis, MO / Incarnate Word) and Meagan Miller (Oakville, Ontario / Oakville Trafalgar) each added 13 kills, with sophomore Kelly Markowski (Winter Park, FL / Lake Highland Preparatory) rounding out the double-digit performers on offense with 10 kills.

Senior Kai Riner (Kennesaw, GA / Georgia Southern) paced the defense with a match-high 22 digs, while senior Reyn Hoffman (Ventura, CA / Ventura) had 15.

Match One
Manhattan dropped the opener by scores of 25-13, 27-29, 19-25, 25-20 and 15-13, despite battling back to make things interesting in the fifth and deciding set.

The Jaspers hit at a solid .208 clip and were led by Riner, who had a career-best 32 digs. Vieira was outstanding on offense, registering 16 kills, on .231 hitting, with 14 digs and three aces.

Defensively, the Green & White had 106 digs, with five different student-athletes hitting for double-figures in an impressive defensive effort.

Hoener recorded 14 kills, on .343 hitting, with six blocks while Miller registered a 13 kills, on .211 hitting.

Wilde, like Vieria, recorded a double-double with a team-high 29 assists to go along with 11 digs.
