Norfolk, VA — Manhattan dropped their first non-conference game of the season by a score of to Old Dominion. Despite opening the game 1-of-8 from the field, Old Dominion outscored Manhattan 44-28 in the second half to fuel the win.
*Manhattan led the entire first half until Austin Trice' layup with 2:40 left made the score 27-26 in favor of the Monarchs and the lead would never be relinquished again from there. The Jaspers led by as much as seven at 21-14 following a layup from Samba Diallo.
*Jose Perez, Warren Williams, and Josh Roberts combined for 21 of Manhattan's 28 first half points.
*The Jaspers were limited to nine field goal makes in the second half while the Monarchs outrebounded the visitors 36-32.
*Old Dominion shot 5-of-10 from three and added 16 points from the free throw line.
*Josh Roberts paced the Jaspers in scoring with 13 points and six rebounds on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field. Perez contributed nine points and seven assists on 4-of-7 shooting and 1-of-2 from behind the arc.
*Jaylin Hunter led the Monarchs with 18 points, six assists and three rebounds on 4-of-4 shooting from three. Austin Trice provided 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting and Kalu Ezikpe added 15 points and four blocks.
*The Jaspers now head down to Orlando, Florida to compete in the MAAC/ASUN Challenge where they will meet North Alabama (1-1) on Friday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Liberty (1-1) on Saturday, November 20 at 6 p.m. Iona is the other school representing the MAAC at the event.
