Riverdale, NY – Manhattan College Women's Basketball outpaced Army West Point with a double-digit victory on Saturday night. The Jaspers would earn their second non-conference win with a decisive 75-55 outcome in Draddy Gymnasium, bring their record to 2-0 overall.
The Jaspers were paced by Junior guard Dee Dee Davis (Bronx, NY) who set the standard with 23 points on the evening. She would also add five rebounds, four assists and a steal to her night's resume. The Jaspers offense proved strong in the night, not allowing West Point to outscore them in any quarter throughout the contest. In the second quarter alone, the Jaspers outscored the Black Knights by nine, their largest quarter margin for the game.
On the defensive side, the Jaspers backcourt scored a rousing 22 points from the 18 caused turnovers, with five steals coming from Graduate Student center Courtney Warley (West Chester, PA). Warley owned the boards pulling down 15 rebounds – the highest from both sides.
Freshman forward Petra Juric (Zagreb, Croatia) had a breakout performance for the Jaspers with 16 points and six rebounds, to set a high for her career in the green and white.
Two other newcomers to the Jaspers program impacted the Manhattan College win. Sophomore forward Jade Blagrove (Barendrecht, Netherlands) would register six points, three rebounds, two steals and an assist. In addition, Freshman guard Bella Nascimento (Grafton, MA) earned six points, two assists and a block.
The Jaspers return to action on Friday, November 19 at 11:00 a.m. as they travel to compete in the MAAC ASUN Challenge at ESPN's Wide World of Sports in Orlando, FL. Manhattan will open against Florida Gulf Coast.
